Milton Country Park is a 95-acre woodlands and wetlands area with cycling paths and a small cafe. It forms a soothing haven of peace and quiet not far from the city of Cambridge. Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust took over the management of the park from the council in 2008. The park, which is situated adjacent to the eastern end of the main Sport Lakes site, includes a network of paths over two miles in length that run throughout the area and which are suitable for bicycles and wheelchairs, as well as those on foot. Access is also available to the Fen Rivers Way. There are areas for picnics and two areas of play equipment for children; dogs are also welcome and can be walked off-lead anywhere north of the thirteenth public drain, provided they adhere to local byelaws. Fishing is available in both of the lakes from a number of easily accessible platforms, with an annual permit or a day ticket from the Angling Club required. The park also hosts a regular program of events through the year and its visitor centre includes a large function room that is available for hire. Created from old gravel pits, Milton Country Park offers a varied natural habitat for visitors to roam, ramble and explore at their leisure. Throughout the year there is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy. March sees the first significant blossom in the park on its many hawthorn and blackthorn trees. By the end of April the apple blossom in the orchard is in full bloom, creating beautiful canopies of flowers to walk through. You can spot a kingfisher in the park at any time of year but it's spring when they look their best and will be displaying in order to find a mate.

My favourite place for a walk, run or just a lie down with a book. Plus there's a nice eatery with lake view and frozen yogurt!
